Scarecrow Reflection (2-D): Oct. 5, 2012.
1. Evaluate: What are the good/strong parts of your project? What is done well and why?
The good/strong parts of my scarecrow is the bow and arrow, because I got the bow looking like a bow that everyone thinks looks like a bow in there head when someone starts talking about a bow.
2. Evaluate: What do you think you could have done better on this project? What is not great and why?
I could have stuffed it better so it didn't look like quite as weird.
3. Describe the unity/theme of your design: What is your creature's name? What is the deeper meaning - is it to be scary or silly or both? Why did you do your sculpture that way?
The theme of my scarecrow is Archery, it's name is Catnis Evergren, the deeper meaning is to be something that most people would know about, I did my sculpture that way because I do Archery and I enjoy it, so I thought it would be cool to do a scarecrow about archery, plus I like the book/movie "The Hunger Games" so I named my scarecrow after the main character because she does archery too.
4. Describe the colors used in your design: What is our major color or color family? Why did you select that color family (in other words, how does that color help the theme)?
The colors I used are dark colors, like black, green, and brown, because my scarecrow is hunting so it would want to be camouflage so the animals would see it.
5. Describe your creation of form: How did you get your creature to be 3-D? What are some of the materials that you used? Why did you do those?
I used recycled materials, I designed the scarecrow on all sides so whichever way you look at it you would see that it was an archer. some of the materials I used were: cardboard tubes, jug, pop can, spray paint, old clothes, yarn, hot glue, and duct tape.
6. Metacognate: What did you learn from this project that you could apply to other projects in the future? What lessons could be applied to life in general? Why?
I learned that you could get work done faster when you work together with other people, but if a person has the motivation he/she can work just has hard and just fast as a person working with another person.
7. Describe the design process of your project (the steps): Why did you do it the way you did? Was it planned? What is by chance? Elaborate...
I first drew what my final design for my scarecrow would be, the I brought all the materails in that I needed throughout the week while I was building it, I first got a stake that was the right height for a average persons height, I then added cardboard tubes for arms and legs stapled the clothes on and stuffed them with newspapers, I then made the bow out of a cardboard tube, a stick, a pop can and a feather, I spray painted the pop can, the feathe , and the card board tube to make it more realistic, next I glued yarn to a jug to make hair, I glued sunglasses on cuz she so cool ;) I also added a duct tape hat that I made to make her look as awesome as she is.
8. Is this the worthwhile project? What should Mr. Purdy do to this project in the future? Why?
Yes this is a worthwhile project, Because you can pretty much use any materials you can get your hands on. I don't think there should be any changes.
