Thematic Drawing Reflection (3-D): Oct. 30, 2012
1. Evaluate: What are the good/strong parts of your thematic drawing? what is done well and why?
The good and strong parts of my drawing is my points of emphasis because there is dark colors in the background and light colors in the front.
2. Evaluate: What do you think you could have done better on this project? Why is it not great and why?
I could have done better with the shading, because some of the colors mixed with some of the other colors that were not supposed to have mixed.
3. Describe The attributes of your theme/unity: what is in your image? Why did you choose to draw that?
My theme is about the world, Because sometimes we need to stop and admire the beauty of the world. My unity is all the colors and how there is dark in the background light colors in the middle and some dark colors on top of that. my image is the earth with a peace sign on it, to symbolize how we need to all work together and help stop all the wars. the hands spelling love represent that we need to learn how to love each other. I chose these because pretty much somewhere in the world there is war and peoples family's are fighting in that war, and they don't know when and if they will come home.
4. Describe the colors or values used in your drawing: What is your major color, or color family? What are your lightest color values? What are your darkest color values?
My major colors are earth tones, with some red and because I wanted it to stand out. my dark values is the background, to help bring out the light values in the middle.
5. Describe the use of emphasis: what areas did you get to stand out on your drawing? How did you get those areas to stand out? Why did you do so?
My points of emphasis is the black hand making a heart right in the middle against the bright colors of the earth, I did this because we need to think about how much we need to take good care of this earth.
6. Metacognate: What did you learn from this project that you could apply to other projects in the future? What lessons could be applied to life in general? Why?
I learned that chalk pastels are good for shading certain things, and if we would do something like this again that would be good for chalk pastels then I would know how to shade them.you can apply the lesson that that sometimes you need to try different things (like using chalk or oil pastels) instead of going with what you know, (like using colored pencils).
7. Describe the design process of your project (the steps): why did you do it the way you did? Was it planned? Was it by chance? Elaborate...
I first started sketching one of my preliminary drawings with pencil for my first drawing, but then I started on my exceeding drawing which I just thought up, and I got that done first, so my exceeding drawing turned into my first drawing. I have started coloring my first one but have not finished it yet.
8. Is this a worthwhile project? What should Mr. Purdy do to this project in the future? why?
Yes this is a worthwhile project because, it gives an opportunity for one to express oneself. Mr. Purdy should probably extend the deadline, so that more people would get it done on time.
