Exceeding
6-D: Thematic Painting Reflection: March 5, 2013.
1. Evaluate: What are the good/strong parts of your project? What is done well and why?
The thing I did well is my theme, because it's original, and unique, because no one else has done anything like it before.
2. Evaluate: What do you think you could have done better on this project? What is not great and why?
The thing I could have done better is the colors, because some of the colors don't stay the same shade throughout the whole painting.
3. Describe the theme / unity of your painting: What is the theme (or what is represented in) of your design and why?
The theme is Graphic Novel, because I thought it would be cool to do something like this because no one has ever done anything like this before.
4. Describe the colors of your project: What are the major colors or color families? Why did you select those? How do those colors help create the theme?
The major color of my painting is green, because the girl is in the jungle. I also used a lot of brown.
5. Analyze the use of value: What are the light value areas? What are the dark value areas?
I used different shades, and tints, of greens for the grass, and the trees. Some of the other light values are the dinosaurs, the sky, and the sun.
6. Metacognate: What did you learn from this project that you could apply to other projects in the future? What lessons could be applied to life in general? Why?
I learned how to blend the paint with the help of the strokes, because if you don't blend it right with the right strokes, and the right colors, it will look bad. Our lives are intertwined, overlapped, and blended together, like the different colors.
7. Describe the design process of your project (the steps): Why did you do it the way you did? Was it planned? What is by chance? Did you have the techniques (dry brush, wet-on-wet, etc.) or design decided first? Did you paint the background or foreground first? What changed as you went along with the project? Elaborate...
First I took my preliminary design for it, and I copied it on the big piece of paper, I added a few more things than I first planned out. I then started painting it. I different brush techniques for different parts of the painting.
8. Is this a worthwhile project? What should Mr. Purdy do to this project in the future? Why?
Yes this is a worthwhile project. I liked how we could paint on a canvas, or a 3-D surface for exceeding. But I feel like we should have different paint options.
